U.S REPRESENTATIVE CATHY MCMORRIS RODGERS (WA-5): McMorris Rodge Statement on Voting Against Nancy Pelosi's $3 Trillion wish List

Speaker

U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-5) issued the following announcement on May 15

Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) released the following statement after voting against Nancy Pelosi’s $3 trillion partisan wish list.

“This is a crisis, and I’m anxious to talk seriously about addressing the devastation happening to our economy, but this is not a serious bill,” said McMorris Rodgers. “Speaker Pelosi’s bill would spend a record $3 trillion when the administration hasn’t even spent all of the funding Congress already authorized. This bill doesn’t include a single cent for the Forest Service to make changes to safely fight fires during COVID-19. It doesn’t provide liability protections for our health care providers who are on the front lines of this crisis. It doesn’t include funding for the Secure Rural Schools or PILT programs. It doesn’t do enough to help our struggling Eastern Washington farmers. It doesn’t provide any more funding to the Paycheck Protection Program. It does, however, include Nancy Pelosi’s partisan wish list and more bailouts. It gives a tax cut to blue state billionaires by repealing the cap on State and Local tax deductions. It gives economic impact payments to illegal immigrants and funding for sanctuary cities. It authorizes $50 million in ‘environmental justice grants.’ It stands no chance of getting signed into law and I encourage my colleagues to get serious about solving problems and helping address what has been lost due to the coronavirus.”
