U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse (WA-4) issued the following announcement on May 15
Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 6800, Speaker Pelosi’s partisan wish list legislation chock-full of Socialist policies:
"I have said all along: Our response to this pandemic must be bipartisan. Unfortunately, this legislation was crafted behind closed doors by Democrat insiders without any input from minority members with different perspectives from across the country. This massive spending bill - the largest in history - will inflate our national debt with provisions that have nothing to do with the impacts of COVID-19, and it will not deliver the aid or relief that is most needed in getting America back up and running,” said Rep. Newhouse.
He continued, “This challenging time – when people are scared or suffering, workers are losing their jobs, businesses are facing bankruptcy, and first responders are putting their lives on the line for others – is not the time for partisan games. Providing blank checks to states and local governments with no safeguards, tying the hands of employers, and disincentivizing workers from returning to their jobs is not the way to protect public health or ensure economic recovery. The people of Central Washington deserve better."

Additionally, Rep. Newhouse voted against H.Res.965, a resolution to establish a proxy voting procedure on the floor of the House of Representatives as well as in committee proceedings:
"Establishing proxy voting procedures, even for committee hearings, is not what our Founding Fathers intended,” said Rep. Newhouse. “Instead of crafting resolutions that diminish the voices of those we represent, Congress should safely come together and work toward consensus on a pathway forward for American families, small businesses, and workers across the country."
Background:
H.R. 6800, the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act (HEROES Act), is comprised of more than $3 trillion in funding that has no chance of becoming law and includes bailouts without reforms or safeguards, mandates and duplicative layers of oversight, and new government programs that discourage communities from reopening and people returning to work.
H.Res.965 establishes a proxy voting system for the House of Representatives, which can be used in committee hearings, committee markups, to establish a quorum, or to pass legislation from the House floor. There are concerns that a proxy voting system will raise serious constitutional questions for any measure that passes the House in such a manner.
