Sounders FC lost 2-0 to the LA Galaxy on May 17, ending a nine-match unbeaten run in Major League Soccer play. The match took place at Lumen Field in Seattle, where Gabriel Pec and Matheus Nascimento scored for the visiting team.

The result is significant as it marks Sounders FC’s first home defeat since June 23, 2025, ending a club-record streak of 22 games unbeaten at home across all competitions. The club now sits in fourth place in the Western Conference with 24 points from seven wins, two draws, and three losses.

Sebastian Gomez made his debut for Sounders FC after coming on as a substitute in the 76th minute. Gomez joined the club prior to this season after spending two years with Tacoma Defiance. Head Coach Brian Schmetzer rotated his lineup from Wednesday’s win over San Jose Earthquakes, making several changes among both starters and substitutes.

The match was notable for being just the third time this year that Sounders FC allowed more than one goal in a game. It was also the team’s first regular season home loss after going undefeated for their previous fourteen matches at Lumen Field.

Looking ahead, Sounders FC will travel to face LAFC on Sunday, May 24 at BMO Stadium before Major League Soccer pauses for the upcoming FIFA World Cup break.
