The Seattle University track and field team will participate in three different competitions this weekend, according to a May 5 announcement. Azalea Groleau and Seku Sanders are set to represent the Redhawks at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet in Azusa, California, from May 7-9.

Groleau is scheduled to make her collegiate debut in the 10,000-meter race during the event. She already holds three spots on the Redhawks’ outdoor track leaderboard: first place for women’s 5000 meters with a time of 16:46.75, second place for the 3000 meters at 9:59.96, and third place for the 1500 meters at 4:30.34. The competition provides her an opportunity to further add to her achievements.

Sanders recently set a school record in April by running the men’s 800 meters in a time of 1:48.75.

A separate group of Seattle U athletes will travel to Eugene for the Oregon Twilight meet hosted by the University of Oregon on May 8. This marks the third year in a row that Seattle U has competed at this event; last year, Lilianne Hargreaves set a new school record there in the women’s 1500 meters. The athletes heading to Eugene include Osaze Williams, Annabelle Clapp, Zoe Tibbo, and Matthew Fiso—who together hold fifteen positions on Seattle U’s all-time top-10 lists.

Other members of Seattle U’s team will compete at Portland Twilight hosted by Lewis & Clark College on May 9. The team aims to build upon its performance from last weekend’s OSU High Performance Meet where they achieved nineteen personal records and made nine changes to their all-time top-10 rankings.

After these events conclude, Seattle U’s final regular season meet will be at George Fox Final Qualifier held from May 13-14 in Newberg, Oregon.
