NFIB launches radio and digital ad campaign against proposed millionaire tax in Washington

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has begun airing radio and digital advertisements in Washington state to oppose Senate Bill 6346, commonly referred to as the “Millionaire Tax.” The ads are part of NFIB’s ongoing campaign to prevent the bill from advancing through the Legislature and reaching Governor Bob Ferguson, who is expected to sign it if passed.

Patrick Connor, NFIB’s Washington state director, stated, “Every NFIB-member small business owner in the state was asked their position on the so-called Millionaire Tax. 98% of respondents were a resounding ‘No!’ With such a visceral response from employers and entrepreneurs, NFIB has a duty to ask the public to join us in telling lawmakers ‘Do not tax Main Street like it’s Wall Street. Vote no on the Millionaire Tax.’”

The advertisements will be broadcast in select legislative districts. More details about the campaign and access to the ads can be found at ProtectWashingtonSmallBusinesses.org.

Senate Bill 6346 would impose taxes on income from sole proprietorships and pass-through businesses at the individual level, regardless of whether owners actually receive those earnings. According to NFIB, this approach could create cashflow challenges for businesses that reinvest profits, have lending restrictions, or experience fluctuating yearly income.
