NFIB Washington State Director Patrick Connor expressed appreciation to Congressman Dan Newhouse in an editorial published in the Tri-City Herald for his role in ensuring that the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction would not expire at the end of the year.

Connor wrote, “The past few years have been tough for Washington small businesses. Inflation, labor shortages, and supply chain issues have all conspired to hit Main Street from every angle. But if you ask a small business owner how they’re feeling right now, they’re much more likely to say they’re optimistic again.”

He continued, “They have an excellent reason for this newfound hope. Rep. Dan Newhouse just freed them from an enormous federal tax hike. Not only that, he gave them permanent tax relief, which is key to boosting our communities.”

The editorial highlighted recent economic challenges faced by small businesses in Washington state and credited Representative Newhouse with providing ongoing tax relief that could support local economies.
