Attorney Jillian Hishaw announced on April 14 that her book, “Agriculture, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency: The ABC’s of Blockchain, Financial History & Ways Property Owners Can Make Money in the New Financial Sector,” has received the 2025 NYC Big Book Award. The award recognizes excellence in publishing and thought leadership.
The recognition brings attention to the growing intersection of blockchain technology and agriculture. Hishaw’s work is noted for providing guidance to farmers and landowners who are navigating changes in financial systems and asset protection.
Originally published in 2025, the book covers core concepts of blockchain, regulatory frameworks, implementation strategies for U.S. agriculture, regional risk assessment, and estate planning techniques aimed at safeguarding both digital assets and physical property. With over two decades of experience in agriculture law and asset protection, Hishaw said: “As natural resources deplete and climate challenges persist, the need for innovation in our financial systems has become increasingly apparent. Receiving the NYC Big Book Award is an honor and reinforces the importance of equipping farmers and property owners with tools to protect and grow their assets in uncertain times.”
Hishaw has also developed a Blockchain Legislative Tracker and serves as a certified FINRA Arbitrator. Her professional background includes roles within government agencies as well as private practice where she has helped protect nearly $25 million in farm assets.
Her achievements have been recognized by organizations such as the MacArthur Foundation, Farm Aid, Clif Bar, Eat Well Magazine, The Organic Authority, SheFi (Class 16), Chainalysis Reactor Certification program (focused on security audits), among others. In addition to this latest publication, she authored “Don’t Bet the Farm on Medicaid” and “50 State Farm Tax Credits of the U.S.” She is also founder of Hishaw Law LLC—a virtual law practice serving Wyoming and North Carolina—and Founding Director of Family Agriculture Resource Management Services (F.A.R.M.S.), which reports saving nearly $25 million in farmland assets while donating over 2.5 million pounds of food worldwide.
Hishaw was named one of fourteen “Women Revolutionizing Food Systems Globally” by Food Tank in 2019.
