Gonzaga Track completed its regular season at two separate Last Chance Meets, according to a May 16 announcement. The women’s team competed in San Francisco at the West Coast Last Chance meet, while the men’s team participated in Portland’s Stumptown West Coast Twilight.
These meets gave athletes a final opportunity to improve their times and secure spots in upcoming championship events. Several Gonzaga runners achieved notable performances that placed them among the program’s all-time bests.
Ashlinn Aguayo ran a career-best time of 2:07.28 in the 800 meters in San Francisco, which earned her third place all-time in Gonzaga program history. Clare Mullin also made it into the record books with a time of 4:21.36 in the 1500 meters, marking her as fifth fastest for Gonzaga. Maria Taggi Padro and Emma Taggi Padro finished with times of 4:30.88 and 4:34.33 respectively.
On the men’s side, Hayden Roberts recorded the third fastest 800 meters time for Gonzaga with his finish of 1:50.24 in Portland. Charlie Goss completed his race with a time of 1:51.97, while Mason Kissell posted the seventh fastest program mark for the men’s 10,000 meters at 29:10.08 and Ryan Mitchell moved to eighth on that list after finishing in 29:25.21.
Other notable performances included Logan Schwartz running a time of 3:45.20 in the men’s 1500 meters; Logan Law and Jacob Alfonso followed closely behind with times of 3:47.00 and 3:47.10 respectively; Noah Laughlin-Hall finished his race with a time of14:41 flat over five thousand meters; Gus Clevenger and Will Thorsett closed out competition by running ten thousand meter times of29:56 .25and30 :25 .19 respectively.
Looking ahead, Gonzaga Track hopes to send athletes to compete at the NCAA West Regional Championship starting May27in Fayetteville , Arkansas . Individual selections for this tournament will be announced by NCAA on Thursday , May21.
