Gonzaga Baseball achieved a program milestone on April 24 by winning its twelfth consecutive game, defeating Loyola Marymount University (LMU) 4-3. The victory, which took place at Patterson Baseball Complex in Spokane, marked the longest active win streak in Division I baseball and set a new record for the Gonzaga team.
The achievement highlights Gonzaga’s recent performance, as the team has not lost since April 2 and has won 21 of its last 24 games. Maddox Haley also set a new individual record by extending his hitting streak to 27 straight games.
Pitchers Justin Feld and Landon Hood played key roles in the win, combining for eighteen strikeouts. This total ties for the fourth most strikeouts by Gonzaga in the past twenty years and is tied for third most ever recorded at Patterson Complex. Feld earned his fourth straight victory after pitching six and two-thirds innings with twelve strikeouts, while Hood secured the save with two and one-third scoreless innings and six additional strikeouts.
LMU initially led with three runs—two unearned—in the second inning, followed by a solo home run from Matt Moreno in the fourth. However, Gonzaga’s pitching staff held LMU hitless over the final five innings of play.
Offensively, Gonzaga rallied in the fifth inning to score four runs. Jacob Wrubleski started with a leadoff single before Ricky Sanchez drove him home. Mikey Bell then delivered what proved to be a game-winning hit to left center field. After taking control of the lead, Feld and Hood limited LMU to just two walks without allowing any further advancement on base.
Gonzaga is scheduled to face LMU again at Patterson Baseball Complex on Saturday evening as they look to extend their record-setting winning streak.
