Gonzaga Baseball defeated Seattle 16-13 on May 16, finishing the final Gonzaga Athletics home event in the West Coast Conference (WCC) with a win.

The victory marks Gonzaga’s 22nd conference win this season, which is the most by any team in the WCC in over twenty years. The team finished seven wins ahead of any other competitor in the conference and secured the regular season title as they prepare to move to the PAC-12 next year.

The game was closely contested, with both teams exchanging leads throughout. Gonzaga recorded 17 hits and scored their runs through timely hitting. Mikey Bell had a standout performance at bat, driving in six runs—tied for second most by a player at Patterson Baseball Complex—and matching the program record for hits in a single game with five.

After an early lead by Santa Clara from a home run, Gonzaga responded quickly and continued to build momentum through subsequent innings. Key moments included three different two-run home runs from Tommy Eisenstat, Bell, and Noah Meffert during a six-run fifth inning. Seattle rallied late but was ultimately overcome by Gonzaga’s five-run eighth inning rally led by Bell’s RBI double. Seniors Brandon Cabrera and Peyton Miller contributed pinch-hit RBIs in their final home appearance.

With this result, Gonzaga enters the WCC tournament as the top seed. Their first game is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. in Scottsdale, Arizona against the lowest advancing seed from Wednesday’s play-in games between Santa Clara and San Francisco or Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine. The tournament will be streamed on ESPN+, with its final broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
