Eastern Washington University’s football team held its second spring scrimmage at Roos Field on April 25, with both the offense and defense making notable plays as the team prepares for its final week of spring practice.

The scrimmage provided an opportunity for players to showcase their skills ahead of the upcoming Spring Game. The defense stood out with Bjorn Birmingham recording two interceptions, building on his performance from the first scrimmage. The secondary also contributed eight pass breakups, led by JoJo Maxey-Johnson who had three.

Steven Lee Jr. forced a fumble that was recovered by Drew Carter, while Ben Voightlaender and Yemoni Howell each registered a sack during the session. Josiah Goode led all defenders with ten tackles, followed by Justis La’ulu with five tackles including one for a loss, and Vincent Macaluso who added four tackles. Myles Mayovsky, Shea Robertson, and Carson Moore each recorded three tackles.

On offense, Kaden Rolfsness directed a touchdown drive capped by his own 13-yard rushing score. He finished with 47 passing yards and 43 rushing yards in total. Jake Schakel completed 15 of his 23 passes (65.2 percent) for 126 yards but threw one interception during play.

Cole Pruett was the leading receiver with seven catches for 69 yards. Wesley Garrett made three receptions totaling 66 yards—including a long gain of 39—while David Cabrera added four catches for 41 yards. Running back Kevin Allen III carried twelve times for forty-three yards and caught two passes out of the backfield.

The Eagles will conclude their spring camp next week with the annual Spring Game scheduled for Friday, May 1 at Roos Field beginning at five p.m., which is free and open to members of the public.
