Kashone Demetrious Bing, a 20-year-old resident of Bronson, Florida, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin stated, “I deeply appreciate the great work of our state and federal law enforcement partners in this case, and my office remains committed to prosecuting violent felons like this defendant to keep our communities safe.”
According to court documents, law enforcement found Bing with a loaded firearm in his lap while executing an arrest warrant at his home. Bing is legally barred from owning firearms due to previous felony convictions, including aggravated battery that resulted in serious injury or permanent harm.
Bing could face up to fifteen years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner is handling the prosecution.
Sentencing is set for October 28, 2025 at the United States Courthouse in Gainesville before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), which is a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation coordinates resources from various programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
