A Baton Rouge man has been convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Ellison C. Travis.

Alexander Brock, 59, was found guilty after a three-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge John W. deGravelles. The jury reached its decision in less than an hour of deliberation.

Evidence presented at trial showed that from July 31, 2018, to August 9, 2019, Brock acted as a middleman in arranging ounce-quantity drug deals between his four co-conspirators—who have also been convicted—and others for the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine in East Baton Rouge and Iberville Parishes. He also converted cocaine into crack cocaine and distributed those substances to his own customers.

The jury determined that the conspiracy involved more than 500 grams of cocaine and more than 28 grams of crack cocaine.

As a result of his conviction, Brock faces “a minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of forty years as well as a fine of up to $5 million and supervised release,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jessica Jarreau, Deputy Chief of the Organized and Violent Crimes Unit, and Benjamin Anderson.

The prosecution was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program, which focuses on identifying, disrupting, and dismantling major criminal organizations using coordinated efforts among multiple agencies.
