Alexi Fogo will begin her coaching career as an Assistant Coach for the Gonzaga Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field team, the university announced on June 2. Fogo will work under Head Coach Jake Stewart after completing her collegiate running career with the Zags.
Stewart said, “Having Alexi join our staff will bolster our program. For a long time, we’ve been encouraging her to pursue a coaching career, and she felt like a coach within the program even as an athlete. Now having the opportunity to work directly with our athletes, speaking to her own experiences and understanding what it means to compete for our program, will be of huge value. Alexi will be a great coach in this program for years to come.”
Fogo brings national competition experience as part of the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships qualifying team and as an individual qualifier for the NCAA West Regional Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters in 2025. She holds top ten times at Gonzaga in events including the indoor 3,000 meters (9:25.88), indoor 5,000 meters (16:37.18), and outdoor 10,000 meters (33:45.43).
In addition to her athletic achievements, Fogo was recognized three times as a West Coast Conference First Team All-Academic selection and earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during her undergraduate studies at Gonzaga. She is currently finishing her Master of Arts in Sport & Athletic Administration from Gonzaga after earning both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the university. Fogo also received Gonzaga’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in 2026 and Leadership Award in 2025.
“I am incredibly excited to continue supporting the talented group of women we have in a new role and learn from Coach Stewart,” Fogo said. “It means a lot to have the opportunity to invest in a program that invested so much in me.”
